Garmin has released the new iteration of eTrex models the eTrex 22x and the 32x which supercede the etrex 20x and 30x respectively. Both these models are available to purchase in Australia now.

What’s Changed with the latest iteration
The new eTrex models now come preloaded with Garmin Topo Active mapping data for Australia and New Zealand. These maps are routable for street and trail guidance (turn-by-turn). In addition, Garmin has made an expansion to the onboard memory storage going from 3.7GB on the previous iteration to 8GB.
The only other major difference is the price on the new models. The eTrex 22x has a RRP of $329 while the eTrex 20x has a RRP of $299. The eTrex 32x has a RRP of $459 while the eTrex 30x $399. This cost difference is easily identifiable as being the addition of Topographic maps preloaded onto the device.
What’s the difference between the eTrex 22x and the eTrex 32x
The eTrex 32x has three additional features compared to the eTrex 22x. The 32x model comes with a barometric altimeter, compass and ANT+ connectivity.
Which eTrex device is the best for me?
Unlike the GPSMAP 64x range determining the best option for you is a little simpler. If you need or would find preloaded topograhpical maps helpful then the eTrex 22x or 32x would be for you. If you don't need topo maps then the previous eTrex iterations will suffice.
