GPSMAP 65 vs GPSMAP 64 – Hands-on Review

Garmin has announced the new GPSMAP 65 Series. Not a whole lot has changed for the new models other then additional GNSS support. The new GPSMAP 65 series is available for order here.

GPSMAP 65 | $549 AUD – Compatible accessories and box contents available on this page

GPSMAP 65s | $629 AUD - Compatible accessories and box contents available on this page

What’s Changed

There is realistically only one major change to the new 65 models compared to their 64 counterparts.

  • Additional GNSS network support
    • QZSS
    • IRNSS

That’s it, two additional GNSS networks added the GPS. This won’t constitute an increase in positional accuracy. The only impact it may have is a faster connection acquisition and better signal retention.
