Garmin Vivoactive Announcement
Garmin has long been known as a leader in fitness devices, but now they’ve finally made the plunge into the smart watch category with their latest announcement of the Garmin Vivoactive Smart Watch.
This ultra-thin GPS smartwatch boasts built-in sports and activity tracking apps. This means you can wear it all day without having to switch between a watch and a fitness device.
- It’s waterproof to 5ATM (50 metres)
- Battery life of up to three weeks in watch/activity tracking mode or up to 10 hours using GPS
With pre-installed apps for running, cycling, golfing and swimming. As well as activity tracking, this watch includes everything an active person could want. (Including the move bar that Garmin have made famous in their dedicated fitness trackers)
It is compatible with Garmin Connect IQ, an open platform for third-party developers to create apps for Garmin products. Through this system, you can customise vívoactive’s watch face, add data fields and get additional apps and widgets that provide information at a glance.
They’ll be available in Black, White, as well as bundled with a heart rate monitor. We’re expecting stock late February. Check out our in-depth review on the Vivoactive
Update: The Garmin Vivoactive model mentioned this article has been discontinued for the newer model the Vivoactive HR – This model includes a Heart Rate sensor in the watch.
